On May 12th, the North Dade & Beaches REC hosted a program discussing the evolving landscape of employment law due to the pandemic, entitled Requirements to Keep Your Real Estate Practice Safe in COVID Times.  It was a truly timely topic which the Members could apply to the daily management of their firms.

The Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Palm Beach County gathered over ZOOM on May 12th to hear a program entitled 1031 Exchange Basics presented by Janet Schaum, Vice President, Old Republic Exchange Company.  The course addressed the basic rules, regulations and timeframes for a successful 1031 exchange, including more complex transactions, such as the Reverse and Improvement exchanges.

On May 25th CFREAC partnered with the 9th Circuit Members of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section to host TSUNAMI WARNING: A Wave of Foreclosures & Evictions is Coming, Be Prepared and Make Sure You Occupy the High Ground.

The Fund’s John “Jay” St. Lawrence made an appearance at the Bay Area Real Estate Council’s meeting on June 9th to present ATTORNEY OPINION LETTERS: To the Best of Our Knowledge.  This program is an excellent choice if you are looking for a program to appeal to your Members specializing in commercial transactions – and it offers Ethics credit!

The Attorneys’ Real Estate Council of Miami-Dade and the North Dade & Beach Real Estate Council collaborated once again to host a phenomenal program, The Anatomy of a Cyber Theft of Trust Funds.  Miami Attorney Harry A. Payton, BCS, Payton & Associates, LLC, shared insights from his experience in the case Am. Prime Title Servs. v. Zhi Wang, No. 3D20-1153 (Fla. Dist. Ct. App. Feb. 3, 2021) involving the fraudulent redirection of a wire transfer of closing funds.
