Message from the Board.
On August 25th and 26th, Florida ARECS hosted a booth at the 2016 Florida Realtors® Convention and Trade Show. The Florida ARECS Board of Directors has worked tirelessly to establish a relationship with Florida Realtors® and our participation in their convention was an extension of that effort. Fourteen volunteers representing Florida ARECS and seven local RECS descended on Orlando to share our message with the more than 3,000 real estate agents attending this year’s event.
Florida Realtors® Marketing Opportunities for RECs
Florida ARECS continues to work with Florida Realtors® to build awareness of the RECs and the value their attorney members bring to real estate transactions. So we are pleased to offer two new opportunities for REC member attorneys to promote themselves and their RECs.
Message from the Board.
On May 5th, Florida ARECS held its first ever Leadership Forum preceding the start of Fund Assembly. Sixteen of the twenty RECS sent more than thirty representatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities in developing new and evolving leadership. Florida ARECS Board Members,with the help of the Fund leadership and several of the MAE’s, facilitated the discussions with amazing current leaders and leaders-to-be to address Leadership Development and Governance.
Florida Realtor®-Attorney Joint Committee
We would also like to take this opportunity to recognize REC member attorneys who have been appointed to the Florida Realtor®-Attorney Joint Committee.

First, we welcomed a brand new REC to our coalition.
The Historic Coast Real Estate Council will serve real estate attorneys located in St. Johns and Flagler counties.
FIRPTA Withholding Rate to Increase to 15%
Recent federal tax legislation increases the FIRPTA general withholding rate from 10% to 15% effective for closings on or after February 16, 2016. Closing agents should adjust their procedures and forms to reflect this change. (If you want a reference, it is H. R. 2029, now known as Public Law 114-113. See Section 324 for text of changes).
CFREAC Donates 2700 Toys to Toys for Tots
On December 3, the Central Florida Real Estate Attorneys’ Council (CFREAC) presented the U.S. Marine Corps with 2700 toys.
